Admission Procedures
Rules and Procedures:
(i) Admission as a boarder in any class shall be made with the approval of FHQ/Chairman of the school, upon full payment, if the student is found eligible and suitable. However, in the most deserving cases, the DG may permit admission as a boarder in any class, i.e., from VI to XII, on a full scholarship basis or upon full payment.
(ii) Written test for IX class:
The written test will cover the following subjects and will be held on the prescribed date:
A) SUBJECTS
i) English
ii) Mathematics
iii) General paper (General knowledge, Mental ability, elementary maths)
Before the test is conducted, coaching classes will be organized for a period of one month at the above-mentioned stations in those subjects, available on full payment, half payment, and freeship basis as the case may be. However, candidates can opt to sit directly for the entrance test at the nearest center with proper information provided to all concerned.
(iii) Eligibility for Admission:
a) Sons of serving, deceased, disabled BSF personnel.
b) Candidates must have passed Class V from a recognized school.
c) The child must be between 10 and 12 years of age as of 30th September of the year in which he is appearing for the test. The upper age limit may be relaxed by up to six months in the case of wards of widows of BSF personnel. This concession shall be available to other categories as well, subject to approval by FHQrs.
(iv) Certification required:
a) A provisional certificate from the headmaster of the school last attended by the student, as proof of date of birth and passing Class V, is required.
b) Medical certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner.
c) Service certificate in respect of serving personnel, discharge certificate in respect of personnel invalided out, and death certificate in respect of deceased personnel from the Unit/HQrs concerned.
(v) How to Apply:
Willing and eligible candidates may apply using the prescribed proforma given as Appendix “Q” in duplicate, supported by all required certificates, no later than 30th April each year. The original copy with all certificates should be addressed to the principal of the school where the parent/guardian intends to enroll their ward for coaching, with a copy sent to FHQrs.
Revised Admission Guidelines for Admission to Class XI at BSF Senior Secondary School for Civil and Other Wards
Revised guidelines for admission to Class XI in various streams are provided for civil and other wards. These guidelines shall be followed from the academic session 2013-14.
1. Science Stream:
(i) Science with Mathematics
(a) Minimum of B2 Grade in Mathematics
(b) Minimum of B2 Grade in Science
(c) Average Grade Point in Maths and Science taken together must be 7.5
(d) Minimum of 7.0 CGPA
(ii) Science without Mathematics may be allowed if the student has secured a B2 grade in Science with at least a 7.0 CGPA.
2. Commerce Stream
(i) Minimum of 6.4 CGPA.
(ii) Mathematics can be offered with Commerce if the student has obtained a minimum of B2 Grade in Mathematics.
3. Humanities Stream
(i) All students of BSF Sr. Sec. School, if declared successful by the CBSE in Class X, will be given admission. However, Humanities with Mathematics can be offered if at least a B2 Grade is obtained in Mathematics.
(ii) Students who have passed Class X from any recognized board other than CBSE may also be considered for admission in Class XI, subject to the availability of seats.
Revised Admission Guidelines for Admission to Class XI at BSF Senior Secondary School for BSF Wards.
Revised guidelines for admission to Class XI in various streams are provided for BSF wards. These guidelines shall be followed from the academic session 2013-14.
1. Science Stream:
(i) Science with Mathematics
(a) Minimum of C1 Grade in Mathematics
(b) Minimum of C1 Grade in Science
(c) Average Grade Point in Maths and Science taken together must be 6.5
(d) Minimum of 6.0 CGPA
(ii) Science without Mathematics may be allowed if the student has secured a C1 grade in Science with at least a 6.0 CGPA.
2. Commerce Stream
(i) Minimum of 5.4 CGPA.
(ii) Mathematics can be offered with Commerce if the student has obtained a minimum of C1 Grade in Mathematics.
3. Humanities Stream
(i) All students of BSF Sr. Sec. School, if declared successful by the CBSE in Class X, will be given admission. However, Humanities with Mathematics can be offered if at least a C1 Grade is obtained in Mathematics.
NOTE:
1. Candidates should have passed all subjects in the secondary examination, irrespective of the group offered.
2. Boarders eligible for the Commerce stream will be transferred to schools where the Commerce stream is offered.
3. Students passing the Secondary Examination from any recognized board other than the Central Board of Secondary Education are also eligible for admission in Class XI provided they fulfill at least the above-mentioned conditions. The Principal may prepare a merit list of the candidates and admit students against the available vacancies.
A parent can withdraw their child by submitting an application to this effect to the Principal. They will obtain a clearance certificate from all the members of the staff. They will also pay the prescribed fee laid down by the FHQ to obtain the certificate.
A duplicate certificate can also be issued by depositing the prescribed fee.
A boarder can also obtain withdrawal from the hostel and the institution by seeking permission from the Principal and obtaining a clearance certificate from the Mess and school staff.
